Getting started with a regular exercise program after 20 years was a little daunting at first. The most exercise that I did during that time period was to give my dogs long walks occasionally and to take tennis lessons sporadically. I’ve always “looked” fit, but never had the stamina that I thought I should have or the flexibility that I wanted. In a very short time, Carlos and the Maplewood Boot Camp have helped me to improve leaps and bounds. Maplewood Boot Camp is about working toward YOUR personal best. It is not competitive (well, maybe a little) or intimidating and the group support is fantastic! Carlos, you’re the best. I can’t wait to see what fun and challenging activities you have in store next.

I was dreading a fear-based exercise program that would make me feel weak and like a loser, but Carlos is the opposite of that – he somehow works your BUTT off (literally!) with a compassionate and caring drive. I was never able to run or jog – I thought my bad knees couldn’t handle it – but Carlos’ warmups and approach helped me be able to eliminate that fear and get on the track and RUN! I am happy to say that I have taken almost 1 minute off my 1/4 mile in the 6 weeks I’ve worked with Carlos.

As one of the oldest members of boot camp, I am proud to say that I am in far better shape than when I was in my teens!

With having a serious case of scoliosis as a teenager, I missed out on a considerable amount of physical activity. I have been in boot camp for six months now. Thanks to boot camp, I can do situps, jog around the park several times in one session and do push-ups . I have upper body strength that I never had in my life and I feel much stronger and more flexible. I have been pushed beyond limits that I thought I never would be able to do.

I highly recommend the camp!

When I first came to South Orange I knew that I wanted to do some sports. My friends hostmom told us about told us about the Maplewood Bootcamp and that it’s supposed to be really good, so we registered.

That really was one of the best decision I made since I came here.

Carlo’s Bootcamp it one the one hand really exhausting and even if you don’t feel like you can do it there is no excuse! But the important thing is that you really feel that you did something. You can feel it when your body hurts but you can also feel it when you all of a sudden can tighten your belt!

And on the other hand it actually is really fun! When you once get into this competition feeling it won’t let you go!

And all these factors together plus Carlos as the trainer it was the absolutely right decision and I would do it again anytime!

I started Boot Camp hoping to tone up and feel stronger. I signed up for the 6am class. I thought I would have a hard time getting up. I look forward to taking class. I have funplaying/working out outside.My husband noticed that I firmed up in less than four weeks. Zero love handles and some stomach definition. Fun/workpout and 6AM are words that would never come from my mouth together prior to boot camp. I’m looking forward to the next session, my goal is to lose 8 lbs.

This was my first experience with any kind of boot camp, and I was very apprehensive about the whole process. I have never been much for exercising, let alone working out in a boot camp setting. But i must say, the end result has been tremendously fullfilling. by that i mean i have more energy, and feel much better, and what started off as a whim will now become a part of my life. Needless to say I will definently be coming back for more. I started off feeling like a failure and ended up feeling like a pro.
